MY BOOK BEGINNING
Judge Elizabeth McDaniel is glaring at me over the top of her reading glasses.
-- Final Verdict by Sheldon Siegel. This is the fourth book in Siegel’s mystery series featuring criminal defense attorneys Mike Daley and Rosie Fernadez who, in Final Verdict, have divorced but are still working together.
I found the book on my TBR shelf and decided to indulge in a little read down memory lane. A legal thriller might not sound like a cozy Christmas read. But I get nostalgic at Christmastime, particularly for the years Hubby and I lived in San Francisco. I loved everything about Christmas time in San Francisco, like Irish coffees at Buena Vista cafĂ©, buying live crabs at Fisherman’s Warf, and the Guardsmen Christmas tree lot at Ft. Mason.
What’s your favorite Christmas city? There are many cities with a noteworthy Christmas vibe. San Francisco is my favorite. What’s yours?

YOUR BOOK BEGINNING
TIE IN: The Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice is a natural tie in with this event and there is a lot of cross over, so many people combine the two. The idea is to post a teaser from page 56 of the book you are reading and share a link to your post. Find details and the Linky for your Friday 56 post on Freda’s Voice.
MY FRIDAY 56
The irritation in her voice is evident when she says, "I've been a lawyer for almost twenty years and your case was the worst experience I've ever had. We want to explain some conditions before we'll take on your representation."
Sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one before, but it seems interesting. Enjoy your current read! :-)
ReplyDeleteI kind of love reading crime novels during Christmas because it's such a nice contrast to the general Christmas atmosphere! And I'm in Europe for Christmas this year which is great because it feels more festive there than in Shanghai! Thanks for hosting and I hope you have a lovely weekend and do drop by my Friday Post if you have the time! - Juli @ A Universe in Words
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco is one of my favorite cities. I just love it. San Diego is another favorite of mine--any time of year. I know it's not a city, but I most love Disneyland around the holidays. They really go all out. My own city has a big holiday event that lasts through the season, although, to be honest, I have never been. The crowds are always so off-putting (I say that, and yet I like Disneyland--go figure!). I really should check it out.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying your book! It's been ages since I last read a legal thriller.
I love lawyer reads!!! This sounds like a real page turner too! I added you to the linky. Happy Friday the 13th weekend!
ReplyDeleteA legal thriller sounds like the perfect Christmas book. xD I'm not much of a stereotypical Christmas reader, so I love that you're reading a book for nostalgia reasons!
ReplyDeleteI can visualize that judge glaring over the top of her glasses. I'd be pulled in and would keep reading.
