TIE IN: The Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice is a natural tie in with this event and there is a lot of cross over, so many people combine the two. The idea is to post a teaser from page 56 of the book you are reading and share a link to your post. Find details and the Linky for your Friday 56 post on Freda’s Voice.
YOUR BOOK BEGINNING
MY BOOK BEGINNING
This book is for my India Marie and dedicated to all children who are victims of abuse, neglect and uncertainty.
Know Tiny Secrets: How To Keep Your Body Private and Safe by Latasha Fleming with illustrations by Colleen Madden.
Latasha Fleming believes that if children "Know" the secrets of abuse, there will be "No" secrets. Her book provides a safe, age-appropriate way to teach children awareness of sexual abuse at a young age. It is designed for parents to read with their 4 - 9 year olds.
Know Tiny Secrets is very well done and is available in paperback or Kindle. Learn more at www.knowtinysecrets.com.
Sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteWow, am always impressed how authors can make great children's books tackling difficult issues!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a powerful kids book!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good one. I cannot imagine writing for children, but when it comes to these issues, I'm glad that there are those who can. Good pick.
ReplyDeleteHi Gilion,
ReplyDeleteI guess this is one book which parents are either going to be in total agreement with, or are going to dislike intensely.
I can remember many years ago, the controversy there was surrounding a book 'The Body Book' written by an English ex nurse, turned broadcaster and 'agony aunt', Claire Rayner and aimed at roughly the same age group as your own pick this week..

I have always wondered if children didn't have to learn too much too soon about such things. However, given the state of the increasingly perverted world in which we seem to be living, I have rather revised my thinking and we should give our young people every opportunity to remain safe and happy during their childhood!
Thanks for sharing and hosting:)

It's a difficult issue to tackle - I'm pleased to see that this is well done.
ReplyDeleteIndeed a difficult issue. Good that someone is able to do it in a good way. I find it really sad that people can abuse children.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds like it would be tough. I honestly don't know if I could do it. I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
This sounds like it would be a tough read though an important one. I've done the standard discussions but a more thorough explanation like this book would provide is probably worth looking for despite the fact it's not something I want to think about.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very good, timely children's book. Sometimes the simplest books convey the biggest messages.
