YOUR BOOK BEGINNING

MY BOOK BEGINNING

We were going out to dinner. I won't say which restaurant, because next time it might be full of people who've come to see whether we're there.

-- The Dinner by Herman Koch. I started this book this week and am almost finished with it already because it is a trainwreck I can't tear myself away from.

  1. Hope you had a wonderful Easter, Gilion! Another book on my TBR -- sounds stressful to have to be careful about saying where one ate ;)

  3. Wondering who "they" are that people would want to go just to see them.

  4. Hi Gilion,

Based on just your opening lines, I would really need to know why other people in the restaurant might remember these patrons .. are they famous?

Then when you added the part about the book being a train wreck, I just knew that there had to be more to it than a simple meal! So.. I sneaked a peek at the synopsis and all became clear!

Definitely one for the 'Want To Read' list ... Thanks for sharing and hosting BBOF :)

  6. I heard good and bad things about this book.

It sounds scary to think someone wants to know if you are at the restaurant or not. :)

ENJOY your book and your reading weekend.

  8. I've heard of this book but know almost nothing about it. The beginning sounds interesting. I'm curious as to who these people are. I'm assuming they're famous for some reason. Thanks for sharing and for hosting!

  9. They must be something special if they think someone will show up because they might.

  10. Is the book fiction or nonfiction? What is the train wreck? I like the opening line but wonder why people would bother to go to a restaurant on the possibility.
