  1. I like that beginning. The author tells us the setting, and he makes me wonder what the character is doing in Barcelona at dawn. I'd keep reading to find out more.

    I hope that you enjoyed a good Christmas Day and thanks for continuing to post over the holidays.

    You can imagine anything you want, with that oh so simple first line. All the author leaves you with is a sense of time and place, the rest is up to the reader!

    The cover version you feature is also the best in my opinion, much better than the alternative as featured on Goodreads.

    I hope this book is as enjoyable as the ratings and reviews suggest.

  5. I had to laugh a little that this one a Falkner award as the sentences are so short versus Falkner's page long sentences! This does sound intriguing. I'd like to find out more.
