YOUR BOOK BEGINNING

MY BOOK BEGINNING

Anthony pulled the trigger on the can of bear mace, spraying the Brink's armored car messenger in the face.

-- Heist and High by Anthony Curcio and Dane Batty. This is Curcio's own story of crime and redemption -- how he went from golden boy to prescription drug addict, robbing an armored truck of over $400,000.

Co-author Dane Batty is a writer and publisher, author of Wanted: Gentleman Bank Robber: The True Story of Leslie Ibsen Rogge, One of the FBI's Most Elusive Criminals.

  1. Intriguing! Is bear mace worse than the usual stuff ?

I cheated a little this week and used a sentence from the second page of the book because it was just too fun.

  3. Good beginning! Now I'm curious about his crimes and how he was eventually caught. Bear mace must be a powerful weapon.

  4. Real life crime is probably not as glamorous as fiction crime. Hope you enjoy the book.

  6. Hi guys, I just saw this on google alerts. Dane and I wrote Heist and High while I was in prison. I actually started writing it and then wrote him a letter while I was in solitary confinement in Texas. Not a fun place to be!
I am back home with my wife and two daughters and can't even tell you how grateful I am that I was given a second chance.
    Well, enjoy the book :)

and p.s. JC Jones, you are very right - real life crime is not near as glamorous as the movies!
