2013 European Reading Challenge
January 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014
TO SIGN UP, GO TO THE MAIN CHALLENGE PAGE, HERE,
OR CLICK THE BUTTON ABOVE.
When you review a book for the 2013 European Reading Challenge, please add it to this list using the linky widget below. Please link to your review post, NOT the main page of your blog. NOTE: There is overlap in January 2013 between the last month of the 2012 challenge and the first month of the 2013 challenge. If you participated both years, only count books read in January in one of the years, not both.
Please put your name or the name of your blog, the name of the book you reviewed, and the country of the book or author. For example: Rose City Reader, Doctor Zhivago, Russia.
Hi! Unfortunately there is a restriction of 80 symbols for the name in the linky, so I wasn't able to put the link in the required format :(
ReplyDeleteNo problem! Thanks for posting your review!
ReplyDeletelinked 2 reviews :)
ReplyDeleteWow! So many reviews up already!
ReplyDeleteI had started this challenge in my journal on Blogger http://myconstantthought.blogspot.com/2013/01/2013-european-reading-challenge.html but after reading my first book, and doing my review, I decided I could better obtain this in my blog on WordPress. So, my review link is on there. I'm still learning the ropes of blogging, so I'm not sure why it says Marilyn Monroe in this link. I apologize and I love reading, honestly haven't read many European books, so I'm glad for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteI have finished my commitment of five books....but I have more international fare on the docket. So I'm still reading!
ReplyDeleteHi hi!
ReplyDeleteI have only just noticed I had not posted my review for this challenge so I have added the links.
I have read one book for Scotland and one for England and added them both although only one counts...
ENGLAND - When will there be good news? => great book
SWITZERLAND - Entre deux voix
SCOTLAND - La dame sombre
FRANCE - Odette Toulemonde et autres histoires
Sorry, the three books in French are not translated in English (yet) ;)
Woo-ho! I'm finished :) 5 books set in 5 different countries :) But I'll wait with the round-up post, maybe there'll be more by the end of the year:)
ReplyDeleteJust finished Léon & Louise, and although it is set in France, the author is Swiss and the book is actually translated from the original German.
ReplyDeleteI've only just posted my 5th book for the challenge:
ReplyDeleteDas dunkle Haus am Meer, by Susanne Mischke (sorry in German). It takes place in France and Germany, I counted is for Germany as I read another one for France already...
And by the way, I just wanted to check something: the story has to take place in the country, right? If I read a novel from a Croatian author that takes place in Germany, does it count for Croatia or only for Germany?
Thanks & happy reading
Just posted my review Young Gerber by Friedrich Torberg, the last one about a European book. The scene is Vienna, Austria, and the writer is Austrian although he also held a USAmerican citizenship and maybe a Czechoslovakian one, too.
ReplyDeleteSince I had a moment, I updated my list of reviews for the challenge. They are quite a lot already! And there will follow more...
ReplyDeleteWhoops, I forgot to post the country (Finland) for #167. Should be
ReplyDeleteAvid Series Reader, My First Murder, Finland
Just linked my latest two reviews! The long title of the first almost spoilt it - had to abbreviate the writer's first name!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteNew review for me, Amsterdamnation et autres nouvelles by Tatiana de Rosnay, which (partly) takes place in the Netherlands.
So, this is my 5th review and my challenge is completed ;) But I will read some more!
(By the way, I now have a new blog, I hope it is no problem ;))
Happy reading
I just posted my review contribution for Norway - an almost forgotten classic by Nobel Prizs laureate in Literature 1928 Sigrid Undset.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting...I just read a "The Monster of Florence" which is a totally different book (although same subject, I think) than the one previously posted.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteMy sixth book is "La femme à 1000°" by Hallgrímur Helgason, for Iceland. A very surprising but cool book!
I just made another up-date: two new books reviewed for the 2013 European Reading Challenge... and still five months to go!
ReplyDeleteI just added another four books which I reviewed since my last update in August.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteA new review for me: Le cœur d'une autre, by Tatiana de Rosnay, which partly taks place in Italy. Amazing book!
I'm doing very badly this year, just 4 reviews so far.
ReplyDeleteAt last an up-date! Six more books for the challenge. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo here's my last but one review up-date: Hungary, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, and Turkey. Two more reviews are coming up this and next week.
ReplyDeleteJust posted the final two of my reviews for the 2013 challenge! Hope that you'll like them!
