MY BOOK BEGINNING
An academic life, Dr. Johnson observed, puts one little in the way of extraordinary casualties.-- Death at the President's Lodging by Michael Innes.
Isn't the vintage Penguin cover terrific!
I am reading this 1936 Ivory Tower mystery for the Vintage Mystery Challenge. I'm in Minneapolis for work for a couple of days, and this is the perfect book to read after a long day.
love vintage penguin! "extraordinary casualties" -- what an unusual combination of words!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting read. I wonder how it compares to "modern mysteries"?
ReplyDeleteSorry about the "aborted" entry...my hand clicked on the space bar!
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of your beginning!

Thanks for playing along! And enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteInitially, I was inclined to agree with this beginning...but then a scence from the movie The Da Vinci Code flashed in my head.
ReplyDeleteGreat beginning and I really love those Penguin Classic covers.
ReplyDeleteI like that beginning and the "new" Penguin Classic covers. They are like those old books that I used to read in the library.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting BBF!
