MY BOOK BEGINNING

I close my eyes.
--  Fortune's Deadly Descent by Audry Braun.  That's a pretty short opening sentence that doesn't tell much. But it immediately gets very interesting because the heroine closes her eyes to be hypnotized by an Interpol investigator trying to help her remember her son's kidnapping. And we're off!

This is the second in a series that started with A Small Fortune.  If this one is even half the rip-roaring fun of the first, it's going to be a hit.

Braun is the pen name of novelist Deborah Reed, author of Carry Yourself Back to Me, a Best Book of 2011 Amazon Editors' Pick.

  5. A short opening, but I'd keep reading to see why she closed her eyes and what happened next.

  7. I remember when a hypnotist came to my 12th grade Psychology class. He had the more susceptible students speaking alien languages. It was fun, but I think I'm too skeptical to be hypnotized.

  9. Hi Gilion,

Just the few words of your sentence, without the added notes, would be enough to make me carry on reading.

The book title was a bit deceptive mind you. I thought that it was going to be a financial non-fiction book! Ever been had!

I checked out all your links and I like what I am hearing about Audry, including the great interview you did with her. These are definites for my list, thanks for the recommendation and for hosting.

    Yvonne.
