MORE ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

The European Reading Challenge lets participants tour Europe through books. For all the details and to sign up, please visit the main challenge page.

The gist: The idea is to read books by European authors or books set in European countries (no matter where the author comes from). The books can be anything – novels, short stories, memoirs, travel guides, cookbooks, biography, poetry, or any other genre. You can participate at different levels, but each book must be by a different author and set in a different country – it's supposed to be a tour.

  1. Wow, this is almost embracing - two books so close together. It was just coincidence actually, not planned.

  2. Way to go -- you are ripping through the challenge and on your way to the Jet Setter award!

  4. Mari -- thanks for leaving the links!

I messed up on my own instructions and forgot to put the name of the country of my last book. Serenissima by Erica Jong is set in Venice, so counts as my Italy book.

  5. Thanks for your help Rose City Reader. I have posted my review of Lost Dog and Lonely Hearts. I hope I did it correctly.

  6. I know I have already read a book set in Italy, but since I have been reading quite a lot of books set in Venice, I thought I should add my short review on "Vivaldi's Virgins", which I quite enjoyed :)

  7. Hi!

I've only just put the four books I have finally reviewed for the challenge...
I am sorry I messed up the linky thing, the "shadow" book is not supposed to be in it...

One day I'll do it right, I promise!

    See you!

  8. Lorelei: Thanks for including your review! I added a link to the list above.

Ally: Thanks for leaving a link to another Venice review. I had so much fun with your Venice in February challenge! I hope you do it again next year.

laraemilie: Thanks for posting the links to your reviews! I read the English ones, but will have to use google translate to read the French ones. :) I don't know which one is the "shadow" book that you didn't intend to include. If you explain more, I can delete that link.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I might translate them into English later when I've got time...
I did not mean to include Shadow in the list because the author is from the UK and I have another book from the UK as well... But you can leave it though, some people might be interested in reading it. I only cannot count it in my 5 books for the challenge!
    Xx

  10. Actually it's not the "shadow" book I meant but "war horse"... Sorry I was probably really tired... Hope it's not too confusing XD

    ReplyDelete
  11. laraemilie: Aha! Now I get it. Yes, I will leave the War Horse review up for people to find, even if it is a double UK entry for you. Thanks for leaving your links!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just posted a link to my latest review of _A Stopover In Venice_ for my Tour of Italy. The book didn't necessarily live up to the recommendations on the back cover, but, oh, to be in Italy!
