Opening Sentence of the Day: Honolulu

"When I was a young child growing up in Korea, it was said that the image of the fading moon at daybreak, reflected in a pond or stream or even a well, resembled the speckled shell of a dragon's egg."

-- Honolulu by Alan Brennert. This is for my March Book Club.  I don't know anything about Korean immigrants to Hawaii, so this should be very interesting.

  1. My book group read Honolulu last year and we all enjoyed it and because of that we found it a difficult one to discuss.

  2. Hope you are enjoying this book. I liked it, but loved his earlier book Molalai even more.

  3. Suzanne: That happens to us too! We always have more to discuss when we don't like a book, or some like it and some don't.

Diane: That's the same thing I've heard from others. This one has sucked me in. Now I want to read his other one.
