You have reminded me that I'd like to read some Pelecanos. I was a fan of HBO's The Wire, which he wrote for, if I recall correctly. So, I'll be interested to read your thoughts once you've finished this one.
ReplyDeleteCharley: It says on the cover of my copy that he was a "producer" of The Wire. I don't know if that means he wrote it or not, but that would make sense. I haven't seen the show, but I've heard it is excellent.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this book. It was my first read of Pelecanos' work and I enjoyed the way he wrote and his unique approach to murder mystery type books. I picked this book up after see "The Wire" which is my favorite cable series. I think Pelecanos contributed to the script writing and provided quite a lot of advice in terms of police investigations and the drug selling/buying scene.

Amy: Good! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I set it aside as soon as I started it so I could finish the Iris Murdoch book I'm reading. But I am looking forward to getting back to this one.
