Mailbox Monday

Bermudaonion is hosting Mailbox Monday this month. Thanks Kathy! I also remembered this week to post to In My Mailbox, hosted by The Story Siren.

One book came into my house last week:

42 States of Grace: A Woman's Journey by Maureen Hovenkotter.

A mutual friend suggested that the author send me a copy of this book.  I'm afraid it is going to make me cry, but it looks very good. She was a free-lance writer and an aide to a U.S. Senator.  When her husband died unexpectedly, she set off traveling around America in an RV with her dog Charlie.

This is the sort of random, real-person memoirs that I really like.

  1. That sounds like a really good book. I love memoirs of this kind–especially those that have to do with travel.

  2. Sounds interesting--I've always wanted to hit the road and go no where in particular and to stop at whatever looks interesting

  3. This sounds like an interesting memoir. I just finished Cleo by Helen Brown which is a memoir. I really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy this one!

  7. I'm not a huge fan of memoirs, but I've run into a couple of good ones lately. I hope this is one of them for you!

  9. Kate -- I also enjoy a good travel memoir. And memoirs by regular people with interesting lives.

RAnn -- You are so right. A free-falling travel adventure is very appealing.

Beth -- I'll look up Cleo. I do like memoirs. Thanks for the tip.

Aisle B -- Thanks! And thanks for visiting.

Bermuda -- Absolutely! But if I am prepared for it, it won;t be so bad.

Mary -- This one found me! But it looks like one I will enjoy.

jewelknits -- I'm not a fan of memoirs by famous people. But I often enjoy a "random" memoir.

Holly -- You are right. There is nothing wrong with a sad book now and then. Thanks for visiting.
