This is a really amazing book! It is the memoirs of a Polish woman who lived through the Nazi siege of Warsaw at the beginning of World War II. It reads like a novel and tells just what it was like to try to live a normal life with bombs falling and armies on the move.

Great teaser! And thenk you for describing the book a bit, it sounds wonderful. I'd guess it's probably pretty intense in parts and maybe sad &/or troubling too. But it sounds like a book definitely worth reading.
ReplyDeleteThasnk you!
I hope you'll be reviewing it!

Wow, this is stunning. A very intense teaser, but of course it would be, from a book like this. I'd be scared to start reading, because I doubt I could put it down.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! My own teaser, meanwhile, is in quite a different vein: a Bookishgal.
Amy -- It is much more lighthearted than I had thought it would be. But fascinating.
ReplyDeleteshinyideas -- I would love to race through it. Every time I put it down, I want to go right back to it. It is that good. Thanks for the link to your teaser.
I like your teaser and I think I would also like this book.

ReplyDeleteSS -- I just finished and recommend it highly.
ReplyDeleteEagle -- It was really great, all the way through. It is definitely going on my list of Christmas gifts to give this year.
