I am still in trial (which means I am still whining about being in trial), but a couple of books still managed to make it into my house in time for
Mailbox Monday. Funny how there is always some excuse to buy a book!
Fraud by Anita Brookner (because I liked her
Incidents in the Rue Laugier, reviewed
here, and want to read more)
Mysteries of Pittsburgh by Michael Chabon
A friend saw this at my house, said she had read it in college a few years back and really liked it, but didn't think it was a book that "old people" would read. I threw her in the dungeon.
I don't blame you for throwing your friend in the dungeon! Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteI read and enjoyed another Anita Brookner but I'm blanking on the title right now. My MM is here.
ReplyDeleteToo funny about throwing her in the dungeon! Have a great week!
ReplyDelete"Old people"??? Ouch!
ReplyDeleteI gave you an award on my blog today! http://carolinebookbinder.blogspot.com/2010/03/another-blog-award.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visits and the comments.
ReplyDeleteAnd Carin, thanks for the award. I'll come over as soon as I come up for air -- I'm still at work getting ready for a mid-trial hearing tomorrow morning.
As for that "friend" -- I think I'll let her out of the dungeon when she turns 40. :)
Fraud has an interesting cover.
ReplyDeleteI finished reading Wonder Boys about an hour ago, so I look forward to reading your thoughts on The Mysteries of Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteHA! 'old people' I giggled.
ReplyDeleteOy..50 plus here..I think I need to read Mysteries of Pittsburgh...I used to live there too before gray hair.
ReplyDeleteI find an Anita Brookner every 6 months is just about the right dose for her for me-!
